Case Studies

At Feng Shui Design we have worked with many clients in the commercial and domestic market.

A large scale Feng Shui Consultations was a community project involving the conversion of a disused water mill and outbuildings into a working museum, craft centre and coffee shop.

This was a wonderful challenge, to offer advice on the layout of the interior space so that all of its practical functions were met and at the same time allow for the individual energy of each space to be maximised.

We have also done Feng Shui Consultations for individuals sharing homes, so that the only truly personal space was their bedroom. Can Feng Shui work on this small scale also? – Absolutely! In fact one such client requested my advice at time when her career and love life were in the doldrums. She could only work on her own room as the house was rented and this was her only personal space.

We suggested some very practical things such as moving the bed, adding a headboard, eliminating clutter, reducing emf’s from electrical equipment in the room, some colour changes and finally the addition of a crystal and a plant. Within six months she had a new job which brought her greater public profile and a major increase in salary, within a year she was in a fabulous new relationship and she has now bought her own home. She traces all of these changes in her life back to the Feng Shui changes made on a shoestring in her rented room!

I have had the pleasure of working in many office environments and sometimes it can be the simplest of elements that need adjusting. For example:- one of our clients worked in a small office in a converted Georgian townhouse. Her desk sat right opposite the fireplace above which was a large painting portraying a pastoral image of people working in the fields.

When I enquired about the picture and what it represented for her, she was initially surprised as she had not consciously taken it in before. She sat back for a moment, taking in the image, and said “it looks like a lot of hard work for very little return!” Not an ideal subconscious feeling to have when sitting down to your desk to work – wouldn’t you agree!? I then asked the other occupant of the office what he felt about the picture. It emerged that he had bought it when he moved in to the office originally. He felt the image reflected a simpler time when people had time to chat as they worked while at the same time reaping the harvest of their toil. One of the very simple adjustments we made to that space was to move this image opposite his desk and place a new image opposite the other desk that the occupant found more energising as she worked.

Simple adjustments to orientation of desks, beds etc. can also have a major impact on how occupants work. Not only orienting yourself so that you have a view of the door and window, but also, ideally facing one of your better directions will further enhance your experience working there. This information is obtained from your Feng Shui Astrology. Positioning managers in key energetic areas of the space, maximising energy flow to the entrance etc. can have a profound effect on the success of a business.

With many, many clients clearing clutter from paperwork, ornaments even old furnishings has had the most immediate and radical effect on the area of their lives associated with the area where they have created space (this information is derived through the application of the bagua to the floorplan).

I have had clients meet a new mate, manifest new careers, improve their sense of wellbeing and even their cash-flow just by clearing clutter and creating space for something new to come in to their lives.
